Wall is a small village in England. It was so named for the wall that ran alongside it. On the other side of this wall lied the magical lands of Faerie and the Kingdom of Stormhold.

History[]

Book[]

The town of Wall has stood for at least six hundred years. To the west of Wall is a small forest and to the south is a treacherously placid lake. While to the north there are hills and fields on which sheep graze and to the east is more woodland. In this eastern woodland is a grey rock wall from which the town takes its name. It is old and built from rough, square lumps of hewn granite. It runs from the woods through a meadow and back to the woods on the other side.

Every nine years the village in Faerie will open up a Market near the wall, and the guards at the gap in the wall will allow everyone to pass through. This event boosted tourism at Wall, which sometimes caused the inns to overflow and prompted some of the tourists to rent local houses for the week.

Film[]

Wall is depicted as a typical 'chocolate-box' village. Little is known to the residents about the land that lies beyond the wall. There is a gap in the wall and in order to stop people from crossing a guard stands watch.

Trivia[]

  • Wall was partly filmed in the Market Cross of Castle Combe, Wiltshire, and on Arlington Row of Bibury, Gloucestershire.
